Today, indie developer S3 Studio announced that its sandbox city builder House of Legacy would finally be heading to Steam Early Access on May 14, 2025.
House of Legacy has been in development for around three years, during which the developers have been crafting and cultivating features based on user feedback. The game places you in the shoes of a powerful family across generations of political intrigue, warfare, and legacy-building.
If you can imagine it, you can build it, as the game features 200 modular building pieces, allowing you to design your own mansion, farm, or city to your liking. As you build, you’ll also be responsible for managing assets like estates, shops, land, and property throughout multiple generations of your family.
Every time you start a playthrough in House of Legacy, 30 unique noble families will be randomly generated, each of which you’ll either compete with or work alongside, while they also form unique relationships, grudges, and rivalries with one another. In order for your dynasty to grow, you must pass imperial exams, govern territories, and rise through the bureaucracy.
Even if you do somehow fall from grace, you can always recapture it by joining the military, where you can earn titles that will bless future generations. There’s also plenty of action, as you’ll be able to command armies, conquer territories, and aid allied dynasties in the hopes of currying favor.
There is also plenty of room for revenge, as you never know who will be your friend one second and your enemy the next in the game’s ever-evolving, dynamic campaign. House of Legacy will be priced at $14.99 and will also be discounted by 10% on Steam for the first two weeks.
