Today, Avalanche Software revealed that the PC version of their hit action RPG adaptation of the beloved witches and wizards franchise, Hogwarts Legacy, would be getting an official PC mod update. The feature will be rolled out as part of a free update on January 30, 2025, allowing fans to explore some curated fan-made creations that will be available to play as soon as the feature launches.

Since launching almost two years ago, Hogwarts Legacy’s PC community has thrived when it comes to creating unofficial mods for the game. This ranges from adding small cosmetic features like Shrek’s broomstick to even a multiplayer mod that allows you to explore the halls of Hogwarts with your friends.

While those exact features might not make the original cut of content coming alongside the update, there will certainly be plenty more like it, including new dungeons and questlines, thanks to the Creator Kit and in-game Mod Manager for Hogwarts Legacy, which you can see in action below.

Hogwarts Legacy was originally announced back in 2020, garnering a lot of attention from Harry Potter fans who had been dying for an open-world RPG based on the world of the beloved book series and movies. Within two weeks of its release in 2023, the title sold more than 12 million copies and generated $850 million in global sales revenue.

By the end of October 2024, Hogwarts Legacy crossed 30 million copies sold, making it one of the best-selling video games ever. A sequel for the series is also currently in the works.
