In a 2024 thank-you post on X, Hideo Kojima revealed that two of his studio’s new games have been hit by the SAG-AFTRA’s strike, delaying production on both titles.

The games affected include OD and Physint. OD development was already in actor and environment scanning, and Phsyint was in the process of casting. However, both of these had to be suspended, according to Kojima-san:

“For OD, we developed the game and had actor and environment scanning. In the second half of the year, scanning and filming were suspended due to the SAG strike. Casting was also suspended for Physint due to the strike. We hope to resume next year.”

The news isn’t too surprising, considering the SAG-AFTRA strike has impacted quite several studios. Earlier this year, the organization announced that it was ready to strike if publishers wouldn’t provide video game actors with AI protections. This was after nearly a year of negotiations that were failing to go anywhere.

SAG-AFTRA has been busy since then, counting several wins. An agreement with Narrativ, an AI voice platform that licenses AI voice replicas, is among them.

Kojima-san is hopeful that production on OD and Physint will begin again in 2025, which could also spell out good things for the SAG-AFTRA’s strike. There isn’t too much known about either game, though fans can view the OD teaser trailer below:

Physint is an upcoming action-espionage game, which is particularly exciting for Metal Gear Solid fans.

Additionally, Kojima-san’s fans can check out his entire thank-you message below:

Thank you for all your support in 2024. It was a year full of many things: DS2 development, the release of our second trailer, ADR for the actors, music production and recording, Japanese voice recording. In the summer, we started to play and build up the game. We were also able… pic.twitter.com/rozzqtCsPH
