Following yesterday’s reveal of the upcoming sequel of Okami, its development studio Clovers, led by Hideki Kamiya, sent a press release to introduce itself.
Kamiya-san will perform the role of Studio Head and Chief Game Designer, and the company will work on the game under his leadership in its two locations in Osaka and Tokyo.
Clovers intends to deliver beautiful graphics similar to Japanese paintings, a heartwarming story, an exciting adventure, and a moving experience.
The team includes developers with a wide range of experiences, from veterans to newbies. They plan to continue welcoming many creative professionals who share Clovers’ philosophy and want to join. Below you can find a group picture of the team.
The Clovers logo includes four Cs, each of which represents the core values of the studio.
- Challenge: the unstoppable drive to try new things.
- Creativity: the urge to continuously create.
- Craftmanship: an unshakable devotion to detail.
- And the fourth is a personal “C” that each employee values, for instance, Kamiya-san’s is “Curiosity.”
These C’ represent the “Clovers Spirit.” The developers at the studio pledge to “take new challenges head-on, to sweat the details, and to create gaming experiences that only they can create. It’s their mission to make the games you’ve always wanted to play.”
Incidentally, we learn that the studio isn’t new. It was actually established in October 2023 and the CEO is Kento Koyama, who previously also worked at PlatinumGames (he was co-director on World of Demons).
Speaking of Kamiya-san, he mentions that he left his previous big studio and became independent for various reasons, and for a while, he searched for a place where he could work on game development following his own beliefs. At Clovers, he found a place where he can create games that he’ll be proud to share with us.
“We may be small in size, but we’re big and strong in spirit.”
He pledges that as a game development studio, he and Clovers will continue to strive to add happiness to everyone’s gaming life with the same conviction that he had when he first entered the gaming industry, and he encourages fans to look forward to the “four-leaf Clovers” blooming in the vast wilderness of the gaming industry.
Speaking of happiness, Kamiya-san published a new video on his YouTube channel, showing a party with the rest of the Clovers staff. You can watch it below.
Okami’s sequel will be developed by Clovers and published by Capcom and doesn’t yet have a release window or platforms.
