Helldivers 2, the popular third-person, multiplayer shooter, is coming to Xbox Series X|S on August 26, 2025, bringing the game to a new player base after one and a half years.
Helldivers 2 was first released on February 8, 2024, on PC and PlayStation 5. It follows players as they enlist to fight in the Galactic War, where they fight to “liberate planets” and spread democracy across the galaxy. They’ll face enemies of Super Earth, including aliens that look like insects and Automatons.
Mikael Eriksson, Helldivers 2 Game Director, shared excitement about bringing the game to a new group of players:
“We know gamers have been asking for this for some time and we are so excited to bring more Helldivers into our game. We have so much more in store for the future months and years – and the more players we have the more stories we can tell! The fight for Super Earth has only just begun.”
Helldivers 2 is available for pre-order on Xbox Series X|S, and there are rewards for doing so. Pre-ordering the original edition rewards players with three armor sets: TR-7 Ambassador of the Brand, TR-62 Knight, and TR-9 Cavalier of Democracy.
Players can also choose the Helldivers 2 Super Citizen Edition, which comes with the same pre-order rewards as above and a few extra rewards:
- DP-53 Savior of the Free armor set
- Will of the People cape
- MP-98 Knight weapon
- Super Citizen Status
- Stratagem Hero Ship game
- Premium Warbond Token
Both editions are available to pre-order now on the Xbox Store.
Helldivers 2 has recently had several major updates, adding new content to refresh the game. In May, two major updates were released back to back, making an exciting week for players.
Additionally, there’s still the Helldivers 2 movie that Sony announced earlier this year. Currently, there are no updates as to when this will be released.
