Yesterday, Arrowhead Game Studios announced an exciting new collaboration for its hit third-person shooter Helldivers 2, teaming up with Guerilla Games to bring Killzone 2 to Super Earth.
Today, the developers acknowledge fan criticism towards the announcement, with many noting their concern regarding the price and duration of the exclusive premium items that were being added to the Superstore as a part of the event. In the official Steam post, Arrowhead Games revealed that they’d be increasing the duration of items currently in the Superstore from 5 to 10 days.
This will allow everyone to get a shot at trying to get their hands on the new cosmetic items while also giving an idea as to if this format is something they’ll want to stick to in the future. Helldivers 2 will also gift players the second wave of the Killzone collaboration items as another means of making amends.
Instead of the original plan of rolling out part 2 collaboration items for a premium on December 23, fans will be able to download those items in-game for free shortly, rolled out in two separate waves of downloads.
For anyone who hasn’t heard of it, Helldivers 2 was released on PS5 and PC back in February 2024. It became a massive success almost overnight, becoming one of the fastest-selling PlayStation games of all time, with over 12 million sold in 12 weeks of its release, while simultaneously becoming Sony’s most successful Windows title.
This collaboration event is the first time since its release that the game has done a crossover. Killzone 2 is a hit FPS game released in 2009, featuring a lot of the same gritty, fast-paced gameplay that Helldiver fans have come to know and love.
Helldivers 2 is currently available for PlayStation 5 and PC, starting at a price-point of $39.99. For more information on the Sony shooter and plenty of other gaming and sim content, be sure to check back to Simulation Daily.
