XD Games has revealed that Heartopia, its upcoming cozy, free-to-play, multiplayer life sim, is releasing on January 7, 2026, ready to ring in the new year.

Heartopia is a life sim that focuses on personal connections, life simulation mechanics, and narrative roleplay. The game is set in an urban world that’s full of slow-paced living and style.

There, players will create their own virtual lives. Heartopia is very focused on what it calls emotional realism. Players will meet others, including both NPCs and other players. The NPCs mimic naturally evolving relationships, and the characters will react to players’ behavior and choices that they make when interacting with them.

Decisions that the player makes will, over time, determine how the world inside of Heartopia views the player.

Personal expression is a big part of the game, and players will be able to customize and mix-and-match outfits and decorate their living spaces.

The activities in the game are focused on relaxation and immersion. Whether it’s getting coffee with other players, exploring the area outside the city, or befriending others, the game wants to be as stress-free as possible.

With all of this comes the multiplayer aspect, too. Players will meet others playing at the same time, and they can chat and show off their style. Heartopia follows a real-time day/night cycle.

Players can check out the Heartopia release date trailer below, which shows off what daily life looks like in the game — and, spoiler alert, there are a lot of cute pets.

Heartopia will be released on January 7, 2026, on PC, iOS, and Android. Players can pre-register on all devices, including the website for PC players, and receive the following:

Additionally, anyone who took part in any of the closed beta tests will get a Blueberry Crossbody Bag in-game cosmetic. Plus, those who reached level 18 during a closed beta will get a Star Mascot Head in-game cosmetic.
