Today, just before the top 6 of the Guilty Gear Strive tournament at EVO 2024 in Las Vegas, Arc System Works announced several characters for its flagship fighting game, including a pretty big guest.
We learned during the livestreamed event that the game’s Season Pass 4 will be released on July 22, and it’ll entitle purchasers to four upcoming DLC characters.
The first two are well-known to fans and perhaps expected. Queen Dizzy will come in October 2024, while Venom will be released in early 2025.
Yet, next year will bring two more characters. Unika is brand-new, while the guest character is Lucy from Cyberpunk Edgerunners, as you can see from the trailer below.
If you’re unfamiliar with Cyberpunk Edgerunners, it’s an anime series streamed on Netflix and animated by Studio Trigger, inspired by CD Projekt RED’s RPG Cyberpunk 2077.
It was welcomed extremely positively, and for many, it marks the start of the redemption of the game, which launched in a rather controversial condition in 2020. Yet, CD Projekt RED kept working hard at it for years, and after several updates, it has managed to turn the ship around and transform Cberpunk 2077 into a very successful and highly appreciated game.
Going back to Guilty Gear Strive, the game will also receive new stages and a new Team of 3 mode. Those who buy the season pass will also get an exclusive new color for their characters.
Guilty Gear Strive is currently available for PS5, PS4, PC, and Xbox Series X|S. It has been going strong for three years since its release in 2021 and it has sold over 3 million copies to date.
Earlier today, EVO 2024 brought us news about another season pass coming to another relevant fighting game developed by Arc System Works. Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising is getting its second character pass season headlined by one of the franchise’s most beloved characters, Sandalphon.
