Today, Rockstar Games announced that PC GTA5 players will finally be on the same level as PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions, as a free upgrade with sought-after features is coming March 4, 2025.
Previously only available on the next-gen consoles, this upgrade adds animal encounters, access to purchase a GTA+ Membership, and a bunch of new stuff at Hao’s Special Works. The shop now includes performance upgrades, new vehicles, and time trials, test rides, and races to test out all of your changes.

This update also improves GTA Online, including kernel-based anti-cheat protections and proactive voice chat moderation, to help keep it fun for everyone. The patch will enhance graphics options, speed up loading times, and improve the overall stability of the gameplay.
Players with higher-end hardware will also benefit from ray tracing features like ambient occlusion and global illumination, support for MD FSR1 and FSR3, NVIDIA, and DLSS 3, and many more performance-based incentives.
Anyone who currently owns GTA5 on PC can download the new version for free, and your Story Mode and Online progress will also carry over automatically. You can check out the official Steam page for a complete list of additions alongside the update.
