To start with, airplane liveries will be introduced to Ground of Aces with Major Update 4. These skins and color schemes let players customize their airplanes, and they also provide stat bonuses.

An overview look at them was shared (with red liveries being placeholders), along with a mock-up of what the UI will look like when changing them:

A new AA-gun will also be part of Major Update 4, the Oerlikon 20mm Cannon. This weapon was historically produced near the developer’s office in Zurich, making the addition more personal and exciting.

Additionally, a new lookout post is coming. Having someone stationed at the post will increase the effective firing radius of anti-air guns in the nearby vicinity.

A new map is also coming that includes new environmental objects and stone resource type. Players can get a look at the whiteboard planning of the new map below, which includes various options as the team worked out what it’ll include:

Additionally, players will be able to create their own maps. A mockup of the map editor’s UI was shared, though the grass icons are all placeholders:

Graphical improvements are also part of Major Update 4, with new shading effects that embrace the comic-like arty style. Players can check out the differences below, with the new shadow effect on the right side:

There are some other things coming that may or may not make it into Major Update 4, like a new airplane and more crew character depth.

There’s not a set date for Ground of Aces Major Update 4, though it will be released sometime next month on PC. For more news on Ground of Aces, check out last month’s Warplans Update.
