Today, after the grand finals of the Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising tournament at EVO Japan, Cygames revealed the first gameplay of Galleon.
We already knew that Galleon would be the next playable character, and we saw a glimpse of her model at the Arc World Tour tournament, but today we got to see her in action during the livestream.
On top of that, we also get her release date, and it’s soon, on May 28.
She thrives at close to mid-range combat, focusing on command throws. Yet she can also use meteorites to restrict movements and Seism to launch enemies in the air.
She is voiced in Japanese by her usual voice actress, Suzuko Mimori, while her English voice actress is Justine Lee.
We already know that after her, we’ll get Wilnas in summer 2025, Meg in fall 2025, and Ilsa in early 2026. She follows Sandalphon, who was the first character of the season pass.
She will be released with an update numbered 2.10, which will include a rework of the ranked match system. As you can see below, Versus Ranks will be updated to use a numeric point-based system instead of the five diamonds.
There will be other criteria on top of match outcomes that will be factored into the points gained or lost after the end of each ranked match. That being said, the update won’t reset your current rank.
Incidentally, before you check out the trailer, if you want to learn more about Cygames’ plans for the game, you can watch our interview with the series’ creative Director, Tetsuya Fukuhara. If you enjoy it, don’t forget to leave a like and subscribe to our YouTube channel for more.
If you’re wondering, the tournament at EVO was won by Kasuagi, who defeated Zangief_Dream.
Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising is currently available for PS5, PS4, and PC.
