Gran Turismo 7 Update Brings Legendary Track, 6 Cars, and New Physics

Subaru Impreza in Gran Turismo 7

Sony Interactive Entertainment and Polyphony Digital will release a new update tomorrow (July 25) to their popular racing simulator Gran Turismo 7, and it’s a big one.

Most Gran Turismo 7 updates add a few cars and smaller bits and bobs, but not only this one (numbered 1.49) brings six new vehicles to the track, but an entire new track to race them on.

To be more specific, it’s a returning track that Gran Turismo fans will be very familiar with, the Eiger Nordwand, which debuted in Gran Turismo HD Concept in 2006. While it’s a fictional track, it’s located in a real location of the Swiss Alps, on the north face of the Eiger. It’s certainly lovely to see it renewed in Gran Turismo 7’s shiny graphics.

According to the patch notes, we also learn that the new cars to be added are as follows:

The update introduces a significantly updated physics model, with new suspension physics and improved tire calculation that aim to enhance weight shifting during cornering. Tire response has also been tweaked to achieve more realistic wear and tear.

Speaking of tires, Michelin will be added as a manufacturer in the Tuning Shop,  alongside the Pokal wheel brand.

The [Extra Menu No. 40] Collection: McLaren will be added to the Cafè at Collector Level 50 and new events will be added to the World Circuits as follows:

Two more tracks will be available with Gran Turismo Sophy’s AI, specifically the legendary Nürburgring 24h and the Full Course of the Autodrome Lago Maggiore.

Lastly, “The Eiger” will be made available as a featured curation in the Scapes feature.

Gran Turismo 7 is currently available for PS5 and PS4. Polyphony Digital has been updating it regularly since its launch in March 2022.
