Today, Code Horizon revealed new footage of Gold Mining Simulator 2, showcasing new gameplay updates and quality of life changes.
As part of the latest Gold Mining Simulator 2 devlog (#5), the team showed off new character animations, visual upgrades and a few technical systems that improve realism. The video below also shows off a glimpse into the ongoing vehicle and environment work as development moves forward.
One such improvement is a significant upgrade to vehicle handling. In the trailer, they test out a new trailer prototype, not only showing that it handles significantly better but even crashing into obstacles in order to find possible bugs.
Alongside the above general visual improvements that help make the world clearer and smoother, the town area of Gold Mining Simulator 2 is no longer a ghost town, featuring updated visuals and more life. Systems have been added to make the world feel more alive, with radio comms for NPCs and multiplayer planned and an item reset system for glitches.
The developers summarized the devlog by stating the end goal of what they’re working on is to make the environment and its systems more realistic and engaging, moving beyond just core mining mechanics.
Originally released back in 2017, Gold Mining Simulator was a hit with fans, rising in popularity thanks to its emphasis on using real-world mining techniques and machines. The sequel to the prospecting sim looks to build on that success by adding plenty of new gameplay features and challenges while still keeping what made the original a hit.
Gold Mining Simulator 2 does not have an exact release date or price, but it can be wishlisted on Steam. For more information on this and other simulation titles, be sure to check back to Simulation Daily.
