Genshin Impact Version Luna 5 is coming soon, and HoYoverse recently held its Special Program for the update, revealing a bit about the story, new events that include a special return to Monstadt, Varka’s release as a playable character, and more.
To kick things off, Version Luna 5 centers around Varka, the Grand Master of the Knights of Favonius and the famed Knight of Boreas. In this new story, Varka will help his allies against a new problem with the Wild Hunt that’s involving Monstadt.
In combat, Varka is a five-star Anemo character who dual-wields two claymores, focusing on enhancing his Normal and Charged Attacks. One claymore always deals Anemo damage, while the other deals damage based on his teammates’ elements (Pryo, Hydro, Electro, or Cryo). He also has a Hexerei buff, and players can claim a weapon skin for both of his weapons for free after defeating a Wolf Spirit fragment.
The first half of Version Luna 5 will feature Varka and Flins banners, while the second half will feature Skirk and Escoffier. Additionally, the Chronicled Wish banner is returning with Monstadt characters (Eula, Albedo, Klee, Mona, Diluc, and Jean).

This Monstadt-heavy update is also bringing a new flagship event that takes players through their journey around Teyvat. Players will be able to recreate their memories of Monstadt’s story with friendly faces from the region itself.
During the event, players can make drinks for their Monstadt friends, go through gliding and combat challenges, and more.
There are also several more mini-games coming with Luna 5, including the following:
- Kamera challenge asking players to take pictures around Natlan, Fontaine, and Sumeru
- Defense mode, where players will fend off waves of enemies
Miliastra Wonderland is also launching its voice feature, and there will be new gameplay modes specifically for it added. Players can also earn a free Mankin(a) set, Owl Envoy, for free through events.

A new Traveler’s Tales is also included in the update. Players can check out a video highlighting the events below:
