Genshin Impact had its 5.3 special program, and players can get ready for exciting rewards, new characters and outfits, plenty of events, and even more when the next update hits servers on January 1, 2025.
The Fire Archon, Mavuika, finally has a date for her release — the 5.3 update will introduce Natlan’s Archonm also known as Haborym. The main story will feature her as well, as she and the Traveler team up against the Abyss. During this, the Traveler will finally be able to resonate with Pyro. While HoYoverse didn’t share details on their abilities, it was explained that they’ll get stronger by completing challenges in the Pilgrim’s Chronicle. Players can watch the story trailer below:
Mavuika has two distinct combat styles: her claymore and her Flamestrider motorbike. Players can hold her Elemental Skill to switch to her Flamestrider to mow down enemies in front of her. It can also glide in the air, scale cliffs, and drive across both land and water.
When her Elemental Skill is tapped, Mavuika triggers continuous Pyro attacks that will continue when she’s off the field. Her Elemental Burst is a AoE Pyro attack that also gives Mavuika higher interruption resistance and enhanced combat power. Passively, Mavuika can decrease her party’s Nightsoul Transmission Cooldown by 20%.
Citlali, also known as Granny Itztli, is also coming with the 5.3 update. She’s a 5-star Cryo Catalyst user, and she fights alongside her two companions, Itzpapa and Citlalin. Citlali can float in the air while not in combat using their help. When her party is in combat, she lowers the Pyro and Hydro resistance of enemies that are Frozen or afflicted by Melt in her Nightsoul’s Blessing state.
She can also create Cryo shields and summon an AoE Cryo storm. She looks like she’ll pair perfectly with some of the upcoming Chronicled Wish characters like Ganyu and Shenhe.
The last new character coming is Lan Yan, a 4-star Anemo Catalyst user. She has adaptive Elemental damage, and she can jump into the air to attack (similar to Xiao).
The first half of 5.3 will feature Mavuika and Citlali, while the second half will feature Arrlechino, Clorinde, and Lan Yan.
It’s almost that time of the year again — Lantern Rite is coming back with Genshin Impact’s 5.3 update. As always, the event will have some of the best rewards of the year, including:
- 1,600x Primogems
- 10x Intertwined Fate
- Wings of Fate’s Course Intertwined glider
- 4-star Liyue character of the player’s choice
- New Xiangling outfit, New Year’s Cheer
Lantern Rite will feature several mini-games, including combat challenges. Additionally, players can send other Travelers customized gift envelopes. Hu Tao will also be getting a new outfit (Cherries Snow-Laden) to celebrate the Lantern Rite.
Several other events will come up through the 5.3 update, including On the Trail of Behemoths, a combat event, Shuyu’s Baffling Beetle Battle Bowl, Emblem of Steadfast Valor, and Overflowing Abundance.
A new permanent game mode featuring the rhythm game from other events is coming with the 5.3 update as well. Repertoire of Myriad Melodies lets players play and create songs from around Teyvat. Players can watch the events overview video below:
Genshin Impact’s 5.3 update will add two new bosses. Wayward Hermetic Spiritspeaker is a standard boss, while an Abyssal Mimic Dragon, the Lord of Eroded Primal Fire, is a new weekly boss that will pop up in the story.
The Genshin Impact 5.3 update will also add several quality-of-life changes. The character interface will have a button to go to the Training Guide, which has been reworked so it’s clearer to understand. Additionally, the limit for Artifacts is being increased to 2,100. Lastly, boss respawns are decreased to just 5 seconds after rewards are claimed, and players won’t need to teleport away.
Additionally, Envisaged Echoes for Ganyu and Kazuha will be available in the Imaginarium Theater.
If you’re just returning to Genshin Impact after a break, then check out the newest changes and updates to the game in the 5.1 and 5.2 updates.
