Today, Epic Games teased Fortnite fans with a brand new announcement on the official Twitter page, revealing that OG is coming back on December 6.
While specific details weren’t entirely laid bare, the tweet below does state that players will be able to experience Battle Royale in its vanilla state as a permanent game mode when this update hits. That means you’ll be able to play from the start and explore the OG map, collect OG loot, and relive OG seasons.
Fornite OG will start with Chapter 1, Season 1, but it can’t be ruled out that they’ll change seasons and let fans relive even more of the game’s former glory.
Epic Games originally released Fortnite back in 2017 as an early-access title with two game modes: Save the World and Battle Royale. About a year or so after it debuted, the latter became so overwhelmingly popular – drawing more than 125 million players in less than a year – that it became the main focus of development.
The first season of Fortnite started in October of 2017, introducing new items, lockers, season levels, and more that added an entirely new aspect of gameplay to the series. Each new season since has continued to up the ante, introducing storylines, Battle Passes, bonuses, and a crazy amount of celebrity and fictional character cameos that could be unlocked.
