Today in Flight Simulation News – March 12, 2026

As usual, Producer and Director Naoki Yoshida and Global Community Producer Toshio Murouchi provided all the relevant details during the livestream from Square Enix’s headquarters in Tokyo.

As usual, this is Part 1 of a series of two broadcasts, and in the next one (which will be the week before Fanfest, so likely on April 17), we’ll see actual gameplay, while today is mostly focused on information. Incidentally, Yoshida-san mentioned that the 7.5X update cycle will be long, so a lot of content is coming.

The update will be titled Trail to the Heavens, and below you can see the official art with and without the title.

The main questline will launch in two parts, with the first coming on April 28, 2026. Part 2 is coming in Early September. Apparently, there is a reason for this, but Yoshida-san said he can’t explain why.

Below you can see the full roadmap of the update 7.5X cycle.

We get to see the first screenshots of the main scenario quest. Apparently, while many plotlines will come to an end, the story of the Warrior of Light will restart moving forward.

Next, we hear about the Downtrail Allied Society Capstone Quests, which will conclude the Allied Society questlines,

The Inconceivably Further Hildibrand Adventures series will also get its next chapter.

A new Custom Delivery character will also be added, Tiisol Ja.

Duy support will be added to two more dungeons, The Dusk Vigil and Shisui of the Violet Tides.

PvP will also get an update with the beginning of series 11, the usual action adjustments, and a new Crystalline Conflict arena, named Archeia Harmonias. It’ll include a new gameplay mechanic.

The inevitable instanced dungeon is titled The Clyteum. We’re going back to Garlemald, apparently.

The alliance raid Echoes of Vana’diel will return with part 3, Windurst: The Third Walk. Apparently, we’ll have to fight Shantotto.

We’re getting a new trial, Enuo, as usual, both in Normal and Extreme versions,

A new unreal trial is also coming, Shinryu’s Domain (Unreal)

A new Ultimate raid is coming, but it has not been revealed. It’ll be showcased at Fanfest.

Of course, there will be the ending chapters of the Weapon Enhancement Quests – Phantom Weapons.

Occult Crescent will also get a new part, North Horn. There will be new monsters, critical encounters, and new FATEs. The maximum knowledge level will be increased to 40, and there will be multiple new phantom jobs.

The new Forked Tower: Magic will be added, in both normal and extreme difficulties. The normal version will be dedicated to those who simply want to enjoy the story, while the extreme version will be for those who want a challenge. Both will accept up to 48 players.

Entering the normal version will require no cyphers, and simply standing on the aetherial node will register you for the duty. If there are more players than available slots, selection will be random. If you fail to enter, you’ll get priority for the next.

To enter extreme difficulty, you won’t need ciphers, but you can access it only from extreme-mode-only instances, which are separate from normal ones. They can be entered by alliances of 12 or more players in 3 or more parties. The Forked Tower will become accessible as soon as you enter the instance.

You’ll be able to obtain new gear and collect the required items to upgrade it to the highest level to obtain the best gear in the isle. If you have upgraded gear from the South Horn, you’ll be able to skip some steps to enhance your North Horn gear.

We finally get to hear about the new limited job: Beastmaster.

The main concept is simple: you capture monsters and make them fight at your side. The weapon is One-handed axes and the role is Melee DPS.

You’ll start at level 1, and the cap will be 50. Job quests will be available at release.

You’ll need to have a disciple of war or magic at level 50 or more, having completed the 2.0 story, and have Downtrail.

You must weaken beasts before trying to capture them, and you can tame up to 50 beast types. Capturing beasts lets you complete your Master’s Bestiary. They can all be captured through solo play, and they will walk by your side like pets.

Monsters can accompany you one at a time and use their abilities to fight with you, and your own tactics will change depending on the monster. You can use the instinct system to perform combos with your beasts.

There will be a single-player experience in stages called the Crucible of the Unbroken, and you can overcome its challenges with your monsters. It’s a completely new type of duty. There will be a ranking to compare your performance against others.

It’ll be implemented after 7.5, in the 7.5X cycle. Unfortunately, the new job has taken all the resources dedicated to limited jobs, so the planned Blue Mage update has been delayed.

A new Ocean Fishing route is coming, Thavnair.

We then get to see the new Cosmic Exploration star Auxesia.

We then learn that the Gold Saurcer will get more multiplayer content.

Moving on to housing, we’ll get increased placement limits for indoor and outdoor furnishings. Below you can find the full breakdown.

There will be a setting that will let you reduce the number of players displayed while showing more furniture, or simply show what’s closest to you.

The development team plans to update the housing UI to allow for designs that can be achieved only by experts for now, like floating furniture.

The ability to change the interior size of your house is still coming, but it’ll be in the next update

Below you can also see a new design for interior fixtures,.

The armoire storage options will be updated to include all job-specific artifact gear, on top of all gear from dungeons introduced in the 7.x patch cycle.

Dyes will be consolidated in the following way. Basically, when you use a consolidated dye, you’ll be able to select which of the included colors to apply. The total number of colors will remain the same. The single dyes that are being consolidated will no longer be available on their own.

You’ll be able to exchange the old ones (which won’t be functional anymore) for the new ones at the Calamity Salvager. All dyes will be exchanged with a single click.

Final Fantasy XIV is currently available for PC, PS5, PS4, and Xbox Series X|S. If you’re interested, you can read about the previous update 7.4 and its follow-up patches.

The community is preparing for the reveal of the next expansion, which will happen with the upcoming fan festivals in the United States, Europe, and Japan later this year.
