Today, during the Final Fantasy XIV Letter from the Producer Live 90, gameplay and information about update 7.4 have been revealed.
As usual, Producer and Director Naoki Yoshida and Global Community Producer Toshio Murouchi provided all the relevant details during the livestream from Square Enix’s headquarters in Tokyo.
We already know that the update, which is dubbed “Into the Mist,” will be released on December 16, 2025.
Yet, today we start with the reveal of the full trailer. As usual, the trailer of an update can be considered slightly spoiler-driven, so watch it at your own risk. Below you can find the embed in English, but if you prefer the voice-overs in Japanese, you can find the video on the official channel.
This update will be relevant because the main story quest will serve as a connection to the next chapter of the game’s overarching narrative. It’ll also mark the conclusion of the Arcadion raid series.
Keep in mind that you can read plenty more details about the content you’ll see today in our detailed recap of the previous livestream, on top of checking out some recent screenshots.
Interestingly, we learn of a new feature for the Deep Dungeon. If you’re disconnected while soloing or your entire party is disconnected, you can resume your progress within 10 minutes, as long as no one has been KO’d.
It’ll still count as a wipe if any party member is KO’d in the brief time one remains online after disconnecting, or if all remaining party members disconnect while one is KO’d.
This is due to the fact that the game has received frequent DDoS attacks, causing people to lose connection.
We start by taking a look at the Arcadion raid, including the initial cutscene and the field.
We also get to take a look at the gear rewards.
We get to learn about the song titled “Everything Burns.” It’s muted in the video above for obvious reasons (we’d like to keep our YouTube channel), but you can get a sample below.
The music is by Tyler Smith and Tom Morello (of Rage Against the Machine, Audioslave, and Prophest of Rage Fame), while the lyrics are by Caler Shomo of Beartooth.
Next is the PvP update, with the start of series 10. It’ll feature the Wolf and Eagle gear series. They’ll be replicas of gear awarded to those who achieved ranked positions in The Feast series 1 and 2, but will feature different color palettes.
Past gear will be updated to feature two dye channels, but it’ll look different from the new versions, as dyes will affect different parts of the gear.
We get to see the new frontline map and campaign, Worqor Chirteh (Triumph). Below, you can check out a visual recap of how it’ll work.
Here’s the gameplay.
Yoshida-san then provided a look at the new crafted gear.
Next, it’s time to take a good look at the highly anticipated glamour update that will let us apply the looks of equipment from any class and level (excluding weapon) to gear from any class and level.
We also hear about tweaks for outfit glamours. Certain class/job-exclusive gear, starting gear, and “fashion gear” other than level 1 will be treated as outfit glamours.
Individual items that are part of an outfit glamour will be eligible to be converted to outfit glamours without requiring the complete set
You can check out the first gameplay below.
Next on the menu is a look at the new Variant Dungeon.
Below, you get to see the Variant Actions available.
The next gameplay segment showcases the Command Panel, which will let players store additional commands and actions in a panel that can be brought up at any time.
We then get to take an in-depth look at the brand-new Strategy Board, which will let you share boss tactics with your party members and other players.
Below you can also find a few slides that explain in detail how they’ll work.
Lastly, we also get to see collaboration costumes and hairstyles that portray the characters of Fanatsian: Neo Dimension by Hironobu Sakaguchi. They will be released in the Online Store on December 16.
