Today is the second day of the Final Fantasy XIV Fan Festival in Guangzhou, China, and Square Enix had an adorable little surprise for the fans in the form of a music video.
The video features the Warrior of Light (who represents the players), the Scions who have accompanied us since 1.0 (with some like Krile and G’raha Tia joining later), and the “Songbirds” idol group that performs the song, titled “Eternal Place.”
If you’re not familiar with the Songbirds, it’s an idol group formed by three members, the au ra Narumi Kakeya, the lalafell Ulala Ula, and the miqo’te Masha Mhakaracca. Incidentally, Masha is the sister of another well-known character, Hildibrand’s klutzy sidekick Nashu Mhakaracca.
They first appeared in Final Fantasy XIV during the Little Ladies’ Day seasonal event (to celebrate the Japanese holiday Hinamatsury) in 2016, and they have been part of the world of the game ever since, even if their appearances have been more sparse as of late.
“Eternal Place” is intended as a blessing for the adventurers who are about to travel to the new world in the expansion Dawntrail.
You can actually watch it performed both in Japanese and in Chinese on Square Enix’s official BiliBili page. You’ll have to click on the links because we aren’t equipped to embed BiliBili videos.
It’s quite the treat for fans of the Songbirds since we don’t actually get to hear them singing in the quests that feature them.
Final Fantasy XIV is currently available for PC, PS5, PS4, and Xbox Series X|S. The new expansion, titled “Dawntrail” was released in early July, and you can read more about it in our article discussing its main character, Wuk Lamat.
Recently, Square Enix also released update 7.05 and announced the new Moonfire Faire summer event.
Speaking of China, a mobile game titled Final Fantasy XIV: Crystal World was approved by the local authorities earlier this week, while during the first day of the Fan Festival, Producer and Director Naoki Yoshida provided a few details and images about upcoming content.
