Today, Giants Software has shared another in-depth the upcoming Highlands Fishing expansion for its beloved sim title, Farming Simulator 25. This time around, it is all about the root crop that is spread throughout Kinlaig: Onions.
Onions grow in four stages in Farming Simulator 25 Highlands Fishing, as shown in the images below. After being planted in the March to April window, it takes about six months to grow, leading to harvest around August to September. It has a max yield of 70,000 and sells for an average retail price of $750 (on easy difficulty).

To maintain your onions throughout the season in Farming Simulator 25, use machines like the Holaras UMR 330-FC to cut off the heads and produce a centered swath. With the Holaras UR 205 attached in the rear, the crop will also get cleaned more thoroughly after its front-attached companion digs it out.
To collect the onions, you can either use the GRIMME Varitron 470 or Ropa Keiler 2 RK22, each of which comes with a special configuration for this specific vegetable crop. Once harvested, deliver them to the Holaras AS 25 on your farm, an onion topper specially designed for trimming onions, transport them to the next destination, and earn your profit.
Highlands Fishing and the Kinlaig map are set to release later this year on November 4, 2025, for PC (Steam), Mac, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. The expansion will be available to purchase separately, though it will also be part of the Year 1 Season Pass.
