Today, EA Sports showed off a first look at gameplay for the next installment in its FIA Formula One World Championship series, F1 25.
The gameplay footage deep dive takes a look at many previously announced features and locations, including ones from the highly anticipated Reverse track mechanic, which lets players experience some of their favorite places in reverse. Austria, Silverstone, and Zandvoort were the focus of this first look, even showing off what a reverse pitstop looks like.
You’ll be able to play all of the reverse tracks in Grand Prix, Time Trial, Multiplayer, or Career modes from the second season onwards. The promised improved visuals are also on full display, as everything from the cherry blossoms of Suzuka to the skid marks on the track are as realistic as ever, thanks to the EGO engine and LIDAR technology being used in F1 25.
LIDAR tech is on full display with the Melbourne gameplay, which showcases how much of an effect dynamic weather will have on races, causing slick tracks and difficult conditions that can make or break your drivers and cars. Aspects like Oscar Piastri’s commentary on the Driver Radio or the Podium sequences also add to the ambiance, something EA hopes will draw players into the third installment in the Breaking Point story mode.
F1 25 is set to release for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on May 30, 2025. Anyone interested in playing three days early on May 27 can do so by pre-ordering the Iconic Edition here. You’ll also get a Lewis Hamilton Iconic Pack, exclusive scenario chapters inspired by the F1 Movie starring Brad Pitt, and much more.
