Today SCS Software had tons of reveals to share during an extensive Christmas livestream, including upcoming trucks, trailers, and locations for Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator.
Perhaps the most relevant feature teased in the livestream is the fact that the developer is finally in the production phase for rigid trucks, which the community has been requesting for many years, as you will see below.
That being said, there was a lot more than that on the menu.
We learn that since the Nordic Horizon DLC is coming, the current Scandinavia DLC for Euro Truck Simulator 2 will get something in between a rework and a reskin, with some places being added (especially in Denmark, for instance, the city of Aarhus), and some like Copenhagen will be revamped.
You can see some images below.
Speaking of Northern Horizons itself, we get to see some screenshots as well, featuring Skellefteå in Sweden.
Another incoming rework is for the Benelux area (Belgium, Netherlands, and Luxemburg). The project is already ongoing and needs more time in the oven.
You can check out some images below.
Moving on to American Truck Simulator, we get to see new images of the upcoming Missouri DLC, including the iconic underground warehouses, which are going to provide a new gameplay feel.
More about this will be shared next week and you can watch what it looks like below.
Next on the menu is the recently announced Louisiana DLC, for which we get to see some screenshots and landmark buildings.
We then take a brief look at the upcoming Iowa DLC, teasing some new industries, and you can check it out below.
Another interesting preview focuses on some work being done on textures for parallax shaders for the interiors of offices, warehouses, and more.
We then move on to vehicles, starting with American Truck Simulator and the Freightliner eCascadia, the first electric truck for the game.
Following the electric novelty, which certainly got a mixed reception from the livestream’s chat, we get to see the magnificent Kennworth w990.
It’s still very much work in progress and you can see the 3D renders below.
Next on the menu is the Peterbilt Model 579, of which we also see just the 3D model for now.
Peterbilt is also getting the rework of the Model 389, which will include a new sleeper.
The next upcoming truck on the menu is the Volvo VNL 860, 840, 440, and 300. It’ll get four different cabins.
We move back to electric trucks with the Volvo VNR Electric.
We also get to see trailers from Walinga
Moving back to Euro Truck Simulator 2, we start with more electricity with the DAF XF Hybrid.
Next are the Mercedes-Benz Actros MP5 and the eActros 600
We then get to see a new branded cargo pack, Green Krone.
We then take a look at the rework of the MAN TGX Euro 6
The developers also showcased a single picture of the Scania Supers new full digital dashboard.
Next things really heated up with the reveal of the upcoming addition of rigid trucks. This feature is finally in production.
The game design is being done so that it’ll be more about the cargo itself as opposed to the trailer. It’ll be spread across multiple updates.
Lastly, we get a “surprise,” which is paintable bars.
Both American Truck Simulator and Euro Truck Simulator 2 are currently available exclusively for PC.
