SCS Software has released the open beta version of update 1.54 for Euro Truck Simulator 2.
The update is very similar to the one released for Euro Truck Simulator 2’s sister game, American Truck Simulator, a few days ago.
We get the refactor of the cargo system that matches models of cargo with the trailer, getting rid of the antiquated implementation that had every combination stored into your drive as a single model. This is much more efficient and saves drive space.
The developers also mention that the change will open up possibilities for cargo loading and unloading.
The truck adjustment menu has been redesigned and streamlined saving time for both keyboard and controller users while PhysX by Nvidia has been implemented for physics, enabling better collision detection, for instance with cones in the Driving Academy feature. The old system named Bullet will stay as an option.
The Volvo FH Series 5, Volvo FH Series 6, and Iveco S-Way have been added to the driving academy alongside new rewards, including a traffic cone cabin accessory and a paint job for the trucks.

If you’re unfamiliar with Euro Truck Simulator 2, it’s a truck driving simulator available exclusively for PC.
A DLC dedicated to Greece has been recently released and you can take a look at screenshots of the Highways, a massive cement production plant, the Corinth Canal, industries and depots, some natural vistas, big cities, smaller ones on the coast, the hotels, and an extensive gameplay video.
The next regional release is the Nordic Horizons DLC, you can check out its landscapes, landmarks, and the city of Oulu, and the churches. while the nearby (geographically) Scandinavia DLC will get a relevant update to match it.
We also recently learned about the rework in the works for the Benelux region.
A few days ago, we also learned more about further plans for the simulator and its sister game American Truck Simulator, on top of the upcoming rigid trucks.
