Euro Truck Simulator 2 update 1.58 is available to players who opt in to the Open Beta, and it brings quite a bit to the table, including a new Driving Academy module, several truck updates, a physics update, map changes, and even more.
To kick things off, the Driving Academy has a new Double Trailer Handling module. This will help players get used to handling trucks that have two trailers with scenarios that take players through different driving mechanics, like maneuvering and reversing. There are three chapters in the latest Driving Academy module, and it ends with a test of the player’s skills.
Players who complete the scenarios get the adorable dachshund plush named Frankie, who can sit in the truck cabin.
Additionally, an achievement in the second module of the Driving Academy has been adjusted. Now, to get the “Nerd of the Road” achievement, players need three stars on 15 scenarios (as compared to the 23 scenarios needed previously).
There are several trucks that are being updated with Euro Truck Simulator update 1.58. Here’s a quick look at all of them:
- Renault Trucks T: two new interiors (Anthracite and Carbon 2024), two new DE13 Turbo Compound engines (DE13 TC 440 Euro 6e and DE13 TC 480 Euro 6e), two new Smart Racer paint jobs, and new exterior parts
- Scania R and S: new customization options
- Iveco S-Way: new 6×2 chassis, bug fixes/optimizations
Euro Truck Simulator 2 update 1.58 also includes a bit of a rehaul to the vehicle behavior physics on a fundamental level. While this is mainly to prepare for new types of vehicles (like the upcoming Coaches DLC), players will more than likely feel the difference in all vehicles. However, these changes serve to make everything feel more realistic than ever.
Some of the specific areas that were targeted include throttle response, wheels and axle behavior, and even audio design. More details on the technical side of the changes can be found here in the official patch notes.
There were also several maps that were tweaked for the upcoming Coaches DLC, which will include coaches and bus stations. While some of these are larger changes, others are smaller, like new signs and road markings.
Additionally, the tutorial for Euro Truck Simulator 2 has been redesigned, offering new players more contextual hints to help bring them in more naturally.
Other changes that are part of the Open Beta update include the following:
- Route Advisor redesign, featuring a variety of customizable widgets
- Quick info feature
- Truck Configurator improvements
- Management Screen improvements
