The announcement marks a return to the event, as last year, Natus Vincere (NAVI) won the Counter-Strike 2 bracket, defeating G2 Esports 2-1 in the Grand Final. In total, there will be 24 games announced for the event, which will take place in the summer and will be hosted by Saudi Arabia, featuring teams from all over the world to compete in the most popular games.

Counter-Strike 2 is the eighth game announced for the 2025 Esports World Cup, joining Honor of Kings, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, Call of Duty Warzone, Free Fire, Street Fighter 6, Rainbow Six Siege, and fellow Valve title DOTA 2. So far, each game that has been announced is a returning title.

If that trend continues, we could also see titles like Apex Legends, Overwatch 2, Tekken 8, Rocket League, League of Legends, EA Sports FC, Fortnite, StarCraft II, Teamfight Tactics, PUBG, and Mobile Legends: Bang Bang announced for the final 16 slots in the new few weeks. Check Simulation Daily back out for more updates as more games get announced.

The Esports World Cup will feature a $1,250,000 prize pool with a distribution as follows:

  • 1st Place: $500,000
  • 2nd Place: $230,000
  • 3rd-4th Place: $100,000 each
  • 5th-8th Place: $40,000 each
  • 9th-16th Place: $20,000 each

The overall competition will last two weeks and include an exhibit for players and fans to show off esports. Its $60 million prize pool makes it one of the largest in the world.
