eGoldenGloves National Championship Bringing VR Boxing Esports to National Golden Gloves This Week

Golden Gloves VR at eGoldenGloves National Championship

VR boxing is getting a new competition, the eGoldenGloves National Championship, and it’s coming alongside the renowned 102nd Annual National Golden Gloves Tournament of Champions 2025, starting on May 16.

The new event is giving eBoxers a place to compete alongside other boxers, essentially giving them a stage to shine on. They’ll compete to earn recognition in the Golden Gloves of America archives. Winners will also receive several prizes, including exclusive merch to the top 10 eBoxers and the following:

The eGoldenGloves National Championship is being held by Engine Room VR, the developer and publisher behind Golden Gloves VR. Golden Gloves VR is, as the name suggests, the VR game that eBoxers will compete in. It’s currently in early access on the Meta Quest.

Any eBoxer was able to sign up for the competition, though they’ll have to travel to Tulsa, Oklahoma, on May 16 to compete in person. Unfortunately, registration went quickly and is already full.

Fans can watch the eGoldenGloves National Championship live here come May 16 at 5 pm.

Aaron Sloan, the owner of Engine Room VR and a USA Boxing certified coach, judge, and referee, shared his thoughts on the impact of the upcoming competition:

“Since we began developing Golden Gloves VR, our top priority has been building a platform that makes boxing more accessible and inspires a new generation of hybrid athletes. Virtual reality opens up new and inclusive ways to play, train, and compete. With the launch of eGoldenGloves, we can provide a fun, competitive pathway that can lead to official national-level competition.”
