Today, Electronic Arts returned for another deep dive, and this time, they are heading to the hockey rink for EA Sports NHL 26 on September 25, 2025.
EA Sports NHL 26 introduces plenty of new features and fixtures this year, while also making considerable quality-of-life improvements that fans enjoyed in NHL 25. Some of those changes include ICE-Q 2.0, a new Goalie Crease Control System, and plenty of other data-driven gameplay updates for Be A Pro mode.
ICE-Q 2.0 is powered by NHL EDGE data, meaning players and opponents think, move, and play like their on-ice selves, using Attributes and Tendencies inspired by the pros to fine-tune their playstyles and decision-making. Players can choose between 28 X-Factors, which span five different categories and use unique animations, tactical gameplay outcomes, and tiers of impact in accordance with their specialties.
Netminders are also finally getting the spotlight they deserve with the new Goalie Crease Control System. Now, goaltenders have improved awareness and reflexes between the posts, featuring new close-range saves and movements that allow for readjustments in reaction to puck deflections, poke checks, and improved AI positioning, giving goalies increased control over the blue paint.
Be A Pro in EA Sports NHL 26 is more immersive than ever, as you’ll be able to live out your dream of making it to the show in a myriad of new ways. This includes making considerable choices that impact your career, as you live out the authentic hockey journey from rookie to superstar, with fresh storylines, characters, challenges, and cut scenes.
It is now available for pre-order on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with no PC or Nintendo Switch 2 release planned for this year. For more information on this and other EA Sports titles, be sure to check back to Simulation Daily.
