Battlefield Labs will be a new community test program designed to help players provide input on the next game in the series. The project will be done via sign-up, though only a few players will be chosen, and that pool will be limited to North America and Europe.

Anyone who is successfully admitted to the Battlefield Labs program will be able to give feedback on an early version of the next Battlefield title. The first test will be coming in the next few weeks and will take place on Xbox Series X|S, PC, and PS5. You can check out more about what content will be included in the test, as well as alpha gameplay footage and minimum PC spec requirements below:

PC Minimum Specs:

  • CPU: Intel Core i5-8400 / AMD Ryzen 5 2600
  • GPU: Nvidia RTX 2060 / AMD Radeon RX 5600 XT 6GB
  • Memory: 16GB
  • Storage: Minimum 30GB

PC Recommended Specs:

  • CPU: Intel Core i7-10700 / AMD Ryzen 7 3700X
  • GPU: Nvidia RTX 3060Ti / AMD Radeon RX 6700-XT
  • Memory: 16GB
  • Storage: Minimum 30GB

This program comes in the wake of the most recent release in the franchise, Battlefield 2042, which launched back in 2021. Alongside a rough launch from a technical standpoint, as the game was riddled with bugs, the FPS was criticized for a lack of compelling new features and numerous gameplay changes that led to nearly 30k negative reviews on Steam.

Alongside the program, it was also revealed that Criterion, DICE, Ripple Effect, and Motive would be coming together to form Battlefield Studios. DICE will work on multiplayer, Motive will make a single-player campaign and multiplayer maps, Ripple Effect will make an unannounced new battlefield experience, and Criterion will support single-player.
