Dynasty Warriors: Origins, the upcoming 1v1000 action game in the popular Dynasty Warriors series, has revealed how it will set itself apart from previous entries in the franchise.
According to a press release, Dynasty Warriors: Origins focuses on telling the story of the Three Kingdoms through new eyes – an amnesiac protagonist. The tale of the Three Kingdoms is part of ancient Chinese history. It’s the setting for every Dynasty Warriors game, but an amnesiac protagonist sets a blank stage.
However, the new protagonist will show it through fresh eyes meant to tell a “deeper interpretation” of the story fans know and love. The protagonist is a martial artist, and his story begins by visiting a small, starving village in 183 AD.
There, he meets Zhang Jiao, a man who wants to help the people, and Guan Yu, a disgruntled warrior who’s tired of corrupt government officials. The trio then go on to challenge the corruption of those in charge.
This storyline is meant to be good for both newcomers and veterans of the series. There will be more soldiers than ever before, attempting to capture the true spirit of massive battlefields from the time. Special conditions will let players take control of other major characters, turning the tide of battle.
When not in battle, players can walk to and from battlefields and speak with characters. This out-of-combat experience also provides another way to view the overall conflict from a larger point of view.
Dynasty Warriors: Origins is set to release in 2025 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. For more action game news, check out Zenless Zone Zero’s roadmap for future updates.
