Funcom has released the biggest update yet for Dune: Awakening with the free Chapter Three update, introducing quite a bit of new content, as well as the Raiders of the Broken Lands DLC.
To kick things off, Chapter Three brings a highly-requested improved endgame. After reaching Tier Six, players can now continue to progress with several new systems that let them grow stronger and tailor their build to the role they want to play. This takes part in the rebuilt Landsraad, which also has a new way to select Missions and view how these help progress players’ Faction Ranks, Great House Standings, and more.
One of the new systems that helps explore this new endgame content is the Augmentation system. Tier Six weapons and armor can be made stronger using Augments at a new Augmentation Station. This gear can be used by all players. A new Specialization system lets players dive further into their roles by choosing one of five progression paths: Combat, Crafting, Exploration, Gathering, and Sabotage.
More details on these systems can be found here on Dune: Awakening’s website.
There are also 10 new locations around the Overland, giving players more endgame areas that include scaling boss fights that drop loot and repeatable challenges. Some of these areas will appear in the new story that Chapter Three brings, as well as the Faction Rank contracts.
Players can also experience two new weapons with Dune: Awakening Chapter Three: the Pyrorocket and Dual-Wielded Knives. At the same time, the Rapier has been reworked entirely.
Other changes include the following:
- Base Taxes have been removed
- New cosmetics as rewards for the new systems, like Vehicle variants, double garage doors, armor and weapon variants, and more
- New Return Package for those who haven’t played in over 28 days
- Deep Desert layout changes
All of this is part of the Dune: Awakening Chapter Three update alone, and players can watch the trailer for the update below:
