Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor is coming to esports, revealing its 2024 Invitationals tournament that’s taking place next week.
The Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor – Ultimate Challenge (or DRGSUCI for a long-short name) will be on November 4 at 5pm CET/12pm EST/ 9am PST. This is the first time the action/survival auto shooter has ventured into esports.
The DRGSUCI will feature eight content creators who will go head to head in a single-bracket, elimination-style tournament. Fans can tune in on Twitch and YouTube on the official Ghost Ship accounts.
There will be live commentary and on-field analysis from game experts. This will be particularly useful for some Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor fans as the esports tournament will have brand-new Mutators.
Mutators are special modifiers that introduce both positive and negative changes to a run. The example given from Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor is below:
Mutators will be a part of two new game modes: Vanguard Contracts and Lethal Operations. Vanguard Contacts are like a daily challenge with specific, unique Mutators. Lethal Operations are similar but only rotate weekly, and they’ll feature more difficult Mutators.
These changes are parts of the Into the Blue update, which was released today. It also introduced a new biome, the Azure Weald, and new enemies both large and small. Players can watch a narrated trailer below to see the update in action:
The winner of the DRGSUCI will receive bragging rights and a custom heavyweight championship belt.
