DCS World developer Eagle Dynamics showcased new and updated content for the military flight simulator, including the MiG-29A Fulcrum and the Iraq Map.
For the Fulcrum, we get to see the startup sequence all the way to take-off, as usual narrated by Producer Matt “Wags” Wagner.
The level of simulation definitely looks very advanced, which will likely please DCS World users who enjoy flying red planes.
On top of that, we take a look at a few new screenshots, including some close-up details of the landing gear.

Moving on to the Iraq map, we hear that Clipmap adjustments are complete for a future update, while ground object settings have been normalized so that all non-destructible models are correctly flagged. This was done ahead of another round of art and performance passes.
In the North Iraq part of the map, H-2, H-3 Main, H-3 Northwest, and H-3 Southwest airfields in western Iraq will be added, on top of Mosul Airfield. Its surrounding area has also been improved. Al Kut airfield will also be added in the south of the region.
Existing airfields have been improved with better hangars, control towers, and terminals.
Points of interest have been added, including Kirkuk and Al-Shaab Stadiums, Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, the Grand Festival Square, Mar Mattai Monastery, Baghdad and Babylon palaces, and more.
Following the work on North Iraq, the map team will then focus on the Southern map portion. This includes southern Iraq, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and Qatar.
Work on that has actually already started, including the addition of Iranian airfields to help simulate the Iran-Iraq war.

If you’re unfamiliar with DCS World, it’s a free-to-play flight simulator focusing on military aviation from World War 2 to the present day. It’s available exclusively for PC.
While the sim is free-to-play, it pretty much requires paid modules to be fully enjoyed, including aircraft, campaigns, and maps. That being said, Eagle Dynamics has a robust free trial program for said modules.
Recently, the C-130J Hercules was also available for pre-order. On top of that, we heard about the Pacific Theatre of Operations 1944 Assets Pack.
The developer also provided a look at more content coming this year and beyond, including an F-15C Eagle and an F-35 Lightning II.
