Yesterday, during the presentation of the Nintendo Switch 2, we learned that CD Projekt is preparing to release the Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate Edition on the new console.

Yet, with the technical specs of the Switch 2’s core hardware still undisclosed (which is never a good sign), you may be wondering what kind of performance you may expect.

The fact that it runs at all is already impressive, but if The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on the original Switch has taught us anything, compromises will have to be made, and CD Projekt Red mentioned on X (formerly Twitter) a ballpark of what we can look forward to.

Specifically, the developer is targeting 1080p in docked mode and 720p in handheld mode, with the framerate hovering around 30 and 40 FPS. There will be performance and quality modes, which will apparently offer some undisclosed variance.

“We’re still improving the performance, but we’re targeting 1080p docked and 720p in handheld mode, with 30-40 FPS. Depending on the mode, of course (performance vs quality).”

Incidentally, we also learn that CD Projekt Red has not resorted to outsourcing the port, opting instead to do it in-house.

The game will be priced at $69.99 or €69.99, depending on where you live, and both physical and digital editions will be offered, with both the original game and the Phantom Liberty expansion fully included on a 64 GB cartridge for the physical edition. It won’t be just a physical code in disguise.

On top of that, the developer announced that cross-progression with other platforms will be fully supported if you want to play the game on something more powerful at home and on the Switch 2 on the go.

Cyberpunk 2077 Definitive Edition will release on the Nintendo Switch 2 when the console launches on June 5, 2025. It’s already available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, while PS4 and Xbox One only have the base game.

A sequel code-named Project Orion is already in the works and will enter pre-production soon if it hasn’t already.
