Today, Pearl Abyss announced that its highly anticipated action RPG, Crimson Desert, has already surpassed 2 million copies sold worldwide, despite releasing only one day ago, March 19, 2026.
The news came via a social media post, which also addressed critical feedback from both reviewers and the community. Crimson Desert gained a lot of notoriety in the lead-up to release, as fans were excited about its boss battles, mounts, and the expansive world of Pywel, all of which you can see in a preview of the title at Gamescom 2025.
Even though it delivered on those promises for much of the community, many have cited stability and quality-of-life issues, such as low framerate and frequent crashes, as a deterrent to playing more. Pearl Abyss stated that they plan to make improvements as quickly as possible.
For anyone who hasn’t heard about Crimson Desert, it follows a lone mercenary, Greymane Kliff, as he navigates both the stunning beauty and cutthroat dangers of Pywel. The war-torn continent is fully explorable, allowing players to complete quests, defeat dangerous enemies, and unlock powerful items in the hopes of finding fame and glory.
After a devastating ambush, Kliff is left dead by his sworn enemies, with other members of his team scattered across the continent. Determined to reunite with his surviving comrades and rebuild what was lost. Determined to reunite with his friends, he embarks on a journey where alliances are forged, dangers abound, and mysterious factions are uncovered, leading to an unprecedented threat and a destiny greater than he imagined awaits him.
Crimson Desert is available now for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, starting at a price point of $69.99. Be sure to check back to Simulation Daily for more updates, including upcoming patches and possible upcoming DLC or future content roadmap plays from Pearl Abyss.
