Civilization VII Update 1.2.4 Improves Age Transition, Rebalances Wonder, & Much More

Civilization VII

Today, Firaxis revealed Civilization VII update 1.2.4, the next patch for its hit 4X strategy game that will introduce new improvements to age transition, rebalance wonder, and add lots of quality-of-life changes. While the update won’t be on the larger side, it will be available quickly, as it is set to drop tomorrow, August 19, 2025.

After plenty of community feedback, the developers decided to rebalance 27 of the wonders in Civilization VII update 1.2.4 to make them more playable. You can see an example of some of the changes below:

Byrsa

Colossus

Dur Sharrukin

Borobudur

House of Wisdom

Erdene Zuu

Eiffel Tower

Palacio de Bellas Artes

Boudhanath (DLC)

Another important change coming in Civilization VII update 1.2.4 revolves around age transitions. Alongside the fact that the maximum gold and influence has been increased for leaders across each age, alliances will also carry over to the next age. Still, relationships will decay if you don’t continue to support each alliance, no matter how long you’ve been friends.

Quality-of-life updates will include Edge Panning and improved controller navigation, allowing you to move around your maps much more easily as of the patch. Sid Meier’s Civilization VII is currently available on PS5, PS4, PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch for $69.99 – though you can get the brand new Settlers Edition for a nice discount for a limited time too.
