Earlier this week, Irregular Shapes announced that its city-builder, City Tales – Medieval Era, will officially be released out of Early Access on January 29. 2025.
Alongside the 1.0 release reveal, another major update was revealed for the Early Access portion of the game. City Tales – Medieval Era Advisor. The 0.4 update features plenty of new gameplay elements and quality-of-life updates, including Bridges, Prestige, and new Narration and Quest Panels.
Bridges will now allow citizens to walk over water, instead of wading through the water and almost drowning. These will be drawn automatically for players, so no need to worry about how to implement them.
The last level of companions and buildings will now be unlocked, allowing them to now gain Prestige that will be used in late-game content. A brand new narration and quest panel has also been added, so that you can track your quest and read dialogs.
For buildings, starting from Tier 4, house plots will have a chance to merge and create a smaller district. Last but not least, it was also revealed that a demo version of the game will be available upon the release of City Tales – Medieval Era 1.0. You can see the full list of patch notes for the update here.

Since its release earlier this year, the game has already added plenty of content for fans to experiment with. Alongside two unique game modes, players also have access to 50 buildings and 40 resources to create their settlements, marking the beginning of their journey as a medieval leader.
In-game companions also come with their own unique stories and skills. As you progress through the main narrative, you’ll also begin to forge bonds with them, unlocking each distinct trait and learning more about them as they help you shape the fate of your city.
City Tales – Medieval Era is currently available in Steam Early Access for $19.99. For more information on the game leading up to its full release, be sure to check back to Simulation Daily for updates.
