Paradox shared a developer diary for the Cities: Skylines 2 Bike Patch that went into the biggest changes and the thoughts behind them.

To start with, the Bike Patch is bringing bikes to teens, adults, and seniors. Children won’t be able to ride bikes yet. There are several factors that go into whether or not a citizen chooses to ride a bike, such as Time, Comfort, Behavior, and Money, as well as what’s available in the city.

Of course, somewhere to park bikes is important when people are riding them around. Players will need to build those, as well as bike lanes and pathing, for citizens to use.

Additionally, players will be able to encourage the sustainable traversal method with legislation. These influence the actions of citizens.

While the new patch for Cities: Skylines 2 is focused mostly on bicycles, there are several new assets coming as well. New public transportation buildings for roads, trains, trams, and subways are also part of the update.

Additionally, there are five new service buildings and five new parks. There are also several new styles and variations for some apartment buildings and residential zones.

Several gameplay fixes and improvements were also part of the Bike patch, and players can read the full changelog here.

There’s also a handy video for players to see what changes and additions are part of the Cities: Skylines 2 update, which can be viewed below:

As announced yesterday, this is one of the last patches that Colossal Order will be working on. There’s still at least one more update coming from the original developers before Iceflake Studios takes over early next year.
