Capcom has announced that it has signed a three-year partnership agreement with Esports World Cup Foundation.
The partnership begins this year, and the event will be held in Saudi Arabia as part of the company’s esports initiative. The second annual Esports World will take place from June 2025 to August 2025 and will feature a $60 million prize pool, with each game offering $1,250,000, spread across 1st through 16th place.
Preparation and qualifiers for the Esports World Cup 2025 event are currently underway. Players and teams are in the midst of competing in multiple qualifiers throughout specific global regions, featuring three formats: a knockout stage, a points rush, and a grand final.
Street Fighter 6 will be one of the titles featured in the EWC, which will consist of players from the three official Capcom global tournaments: the Capcom Pro Tour, the Capcom Cup, and the Street Fighter League. The winners of the Esports World Cup will also automatically qualify for the Capcom Cup 12, which will take place in 2026.
Speaking of the event, the Capcom Cup 11 has crowned Kakeru as its winner. He bested 48 competitors, including Blaz in the final, to take home the title of best Street Fighter 6 player in the world. Between this and the Street Fighter League: World Championship, the Esport attracted 14,000 attendees and recorded over 10 million online viewers.
