Today, Activision revealed that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is taking an unusual approach to its upcoming beta, combining campaign, multiplayer, and Warzone content into one massive testing experience.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 officially launches October 23, 2026, while the open beta runs from August 28 through September 1, 2026, and pre-order customers can get early access beginning August 21, 2026. Activision is using the beta to showcase multiple parts of the Modern Warfare 4 ecosystem, letting players jump into Warzone Resurgence on the new Zodiac map, alongside standard multiplayer maps including Rooftops, Silkworm, Transit 213, Cachette, Lithium, and Kill Block.
Ground War will also return with large-scale battles across locations such as Imjin Farmland and Wolves Stadium, while Classic modes, including Team Deathmatch, Domination, Hardpoint, and Search & Destroy, will be available alongside the new Mobility Course. The biggest surprise is the inclusion of Entrenched, a playable single-player campaign mission, making this the first time a Call of Duty beta has allowed players to experience a full campaign mission alongside multiplayer content.
Set amid brutal trench warfare on South Korea’s collapsing front lines, Entrenched offers a first look at the game’s cinematic campaign direction. The broader story follows a young squad of South Korean soldiers fighting for survival, while Captain Price wages a separate, personal war from the shadows.
Entrenched is reportedly playable throughout the beta, allowing players to experience the campaign alongside the game’s competitive modes.
