Soga, the developer behind Cabin Crew Life Simulator, revealed what it’s been working on and some of what’s coming in the next update in its sixteenth devlog.

As the devlog pointed out, these updates were created after receiving feedback from players about how the sim feels. These new systems aren’t necessarily adding new content to the sim as a result. However, they should impact how the sim feels and plays.

The first of these updates coming to Cabin Crew Life Simulator focuses on passengers. Developers have been working to make the passengers feel alive instead of feeling like shells of people in a perfect cabin. When the next update goes live, passengers will:

  • Sit down naturally, depending on body weight and motion
  • Eat and hold things with both hands
  • Look at what they’re eating instead of staring military-style straight in front of them

Soga hopes this will make cleaning up and serving passengers feel more like interacting with virtual people instead of a chore on a to-do list.

Additionally, the AI crew will feel more like actual coworkers instead of extras that walk around the plane. They’ll be able to check boarding passes, pick up trash, and even bring meals out mid-flight.

They also have their own sense of urgency, and they’ll make decisions about what to do and when to step in based on things like their positioning and the player’s positioning. When the update goes live, players should feel like they’re working with a team.

Last but not least is the sound updates. Sound was something that was missing from the sim at the start, and new updates will introduce various sounds that players would expect to hear in a plane. Things like engine sounds as the plane changes altitude, wheels on the trolley rattling, and even passenger sounds are being added.

These sounds are layered as well, and players will hear different things depending on where they are. For example, when standing by the back of the plane, players will hear the engine more.
