Today Polish developer Rebel Wolves and publisher Bandai Namco announced the date for the reveal of the studio’s first game The Blood of Dawnwalker.
The game is a single-player open-world dark fantasy action RPG with a “strong focus” on story and narrative, and it’ll be revealed on the dedicated Twitch channel on January 13 at 1:00 p.m. PST, 4:00 p.m. EST, 9:00 p.m. GMT, 10:00 p.m. CET, and 6:00 a.m. JST (on January 14). The event will last roughly 45 minutes.
We’ll see a CGI trailer that serves as the opening of the game, which is set in XIV-century Europe, learn about its pillars and main concepts, and even catch a small glimpse of gameplay.
We’ll also “hear about Vale Sangora – its turbulent history, natural landscapes, and secret inhabitants.”
Incidentally, as I write, the developers are sharing a look at The Blood of Dawnwalker’s world and you can see a few screen captures below. It’s made in Unreal Engine 5 and the visuals certainly look nice. If you want to see it in motion, you can check it out on Twitch.
If you’re unfamiliar with Rebel Wolves, it’s a developer based in Warsaw, Poland, and it includes several CD Projekt RED veterans. The CEO and Game Director is Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, who directed The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
Narrative Director Jakub Szamałek was Principal Writer on Cyberpunk 2077 and Senior Writer on The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and its expansions.
The developer announced a publishing deal with Bandai Namco in October, and at the time we heard from Chief Publishing Officer Tomasz Tinc (who also worked on CD Projekt Red’s big recent games)
“Rebel Wolves is a new studio built upon solid foundations: a combination of experience and fresh energy. Bandai Namco Entertainment Europe, a company known for its dedication to the role-playing genre and willingness to engage with new IPs, is a perfect match for our wolfpack.
Not only does it share our values, but also its track record in publishing narrative-driven RPGs speaks for itself. We’re looking forward to working with them to bring the first chapter of the Dawnwalker saga to gamers worldwide.”
More details shared with that announcement mentioned that The Blood of Dawnwalker would be an AAA game aimed at mature audiences. We also know that it’ll come for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
Incidentally, in other The Witcher news, just two days ago we saw the first trailer of The Witcher 4.
