Today, BeamNG and Gmbh announced that the hit open-world driving sandbox, BeamNG.drive, is coming to PS5 on October 19, 2026.
The launch marks the release of BeamNG.drive on console for the first time. The PS5 release will coincide with the v0.40 update on PC, which introduces a new vehicle, local split-screen support, FSR 3 support on the base PS5, and PSSR support on PS5 Pro, along with various visual improvements and fixes.
Players will be able to explore 12 open-world environments, customize a wide range of vehicles, manipulate environmental conditions in Free Roam, progress through Career Mode, and tackle scenarios ranging from deliveries and pursuits to time trials.
BeamNG.drive’s soft-body physics engine simulates vehicles and their components in real time, with detailed deformation and damage systems that make crashes and vehicle behavior central to the experience. The game also features customizable cars and trucks with adjustable wheels, suspension, and engines, while its open sandbox lets players experiment with different setups and environmental conditions.
Mod support will not be available on PlayStation at launch, as the timing and scope are not yet confirmed, and mod-authoring tools such as the World Editor are not currently planned for the PS5 version.
For those who may not have heard of it, BeamNG.drive has amassed a considerable following since launching its alpha on Steam Early Access for Windows on May 29, 2015. It has continued to grow and maintain its popularity over the last decade, reaching an estimated all-time Steam peak of 47,248 concurrent players on July 29, 2026, following the launch of Version 0.39.
The developers have continued to support the title with free updates throughout the years, including considerable improvements to Career Mode throughout Early Access. The single-player mode has progressed from features like vehicle shopping, insurance, and basic progression into a broader system built around multiple career paths, including racing, logistics, performance testing and freestyle activities.
BeamNG.drive has also received major world expansions, including a substantial expansion of West Coast, USA, while additional missions and activities have continued to give players more structured ways to experience its sandbox. Third-party estimates also put its Steam sales well into the millions, although BeamNG has not publicly confirmed an exact lifetime sales figure.
