Battlefield 6 Redsec Season 2 Delayed Following User Feedback

Today, Electronic Arts and Battlefield Studios announced they’d be extending Season 1 and delaying Season 2 of Battlefield 6 and its free-to-play battle royale mode, Redsec, to February 17, 2026, based on recent community feedback.

After reviewing the feedback from fans, the developers cited a need to give themselves extra time to further polish and refine REDSEC Season 2. In the meantime, they’ll be releasing a Battlefield 6 Redsec Season 1 extension update on January 20, 2026, which includes new weekly challenges and a continuation of the current Battle Pass.

The update will feature double XP periods, free daily login rewards, and a special celebration for Valentine’s Day.

On January 27, 2026, the Frostfire Bonus Path also will launch. This is a secondary progression system that can be completed alongside the Season 1 Battle Pass, featuring 11 tiers of rewards, including a Hardware XP Boost, a vehicle skin, player card items, a new Weapon Package, Career XP Boost, and a Soldier Skin.

Unlike previous Bonus Paths, all Bonus Path Points for the Frostfire Bonus Path are earned through Weekly Challenges, meaning that means there are no Bonus Challenges associated with this Bonus Path. For each Weekly Challenge, the amount of Points earned varies by challenge.

For example, an easier Weekly Challenge can award a range of Bonus Path Points depending on difficulty. Not all Weekly Challenges reward Bonus Path points, so you’ll need to check the in-game Challenges menu for more information.

The Battlefield 6 public preview environment, Battlefield Labs, is also being reinforced to allow players to test and provide feedback on late-stage development features before they hit the live game.

Battlefield 6 is available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (via Steam, EA App, Epic Games Store), with the standard edition typically costs $69.99. For more information on this and other EA titles, be sure to check back to Simulation Daily for updates.
