Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora Is Adding Third-Person & New Game+ Modes

Today, Ubisoft and Massive Entertainment revealed that they would be adding Third-Person and New Game+ modes to the video game adaptation of James Cameron’s hit sci-fi movie series, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, on December 5, 2025.

Each of these highly requested features will be added to Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora as a part of a free patch just ahead of the release of the next installment in the live-action series it is adapted from, Avatar: Fire and Ash. This new perspective will be simple to access once the update rolls out, as all players will need to do is flip over to the setting in the options menu.

Alongside a new sense of scale and immersion, Massive Entertainment also reworked animations, controls, audio, and camera systems to ensure the change to Third-Person mode feels seamless and intuitive. New Game+ will allow players to replay the story while keeping their inventory and skills, facing harder enemies, and unlocking a brand-new skill tree and more powerful gear.

The update also adds The Sky Breaker and Secrets of the Spires story packs. The first has players join the great Na’vi games and witness the zakru migration, while the second introduces a stunning mountainous region designed to elevate the thrill of banshee flying.

Despite releasing back in December 2023, where it received mixed to average reviews, the game has maintained a decent community, thanks mostly in part to the fever behind the movies. In fact, the Ubisoft adaptation even finished 2024 as one of the top 20 best-selling Xbox games of the year, generating over $133 million in revenue by that point.

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is available now on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Ubisoft Connect.
