Today, Kakao Games revealed that ArcheAge S: Strait of Freedom will launch globally on Steam in Q2 2027.
As the next PC MMORPG in the ArcheAge series, ArcheAge S: Strait of Freedom aims to refresh the franchise’s core MMORPG gameplay for a modern audience. The title is being developed to build upon the core identity of the original game while reinterpreting elements that resonated with its existing audience for modern MMORPG players.
Director Kyung-tae Kim leads the project, having previously served as lead game designer and producer on the original ArcheAge, bringing direct experience with the franchise’s earlier development to the new project. Gameplay details remain under wraps, but Kakao Games plans to share more later this month in a developer preview video that will include insights from the development team and a first look at new gameplay footage.
The upcoming MMORPG was first revealed back during the PlayStation State of Play September 2024. Kakao Games is expected to provide additional details about the game’s features, world, gameplay systems, and overall vision as development continues.
