Today, SCS Software revealed an upcoming project that will add a brand new gameplay type to American Truck Simulator: the Road Trip.
The project was teased a while ago with a simple audio sample. It’ll let you explore the world of the game from a different perspective, on different vehicles like pickup trucks or sports cars.
The developers hope that this mode will appeal to both veterans and new players who have never played the game before.
The development of the mode is still in the early phases, as you can see from the glimpses of the models of the vehicles below.
The plan is for it to include more than new vehicles, like reasons to drive beyond simply transporting cargo from point A to point B. Beyond new kinds of jobs, players will be able to enjoy pure exploration of the scenery and discover landmarks.
It’s worth mentioning that the development of Road Trip won’t compete with core content. It’s developed by a dedicated team and won’t influence the roadmap for updates.
Below, you can check out a video starring the developers discussing and introducing the project.
American Truck Simulator is available exclusively for PC, and it’s the sister game to Euro Truck Simulator 2. Update 1.54 has recently been released with new features and improvements.
The game just received a Missouri DLC. Illinois has recently been announced and we have seen more of Iowa, including its truck stops and towns. Louisiana has also been showcased with the initial reveal, its truck stops, and rest areas.
