Today, Hooded Horse and Eremite Games revealed new details for the latest DLC that is coming to their popular dark fantasy roguelike city-building game Against the Storm. Titled The Nightwaters, the expansion will launch on PC on July 31, 2025.
Against the Storm – Nightwatchers introduces a slew of new features and gameplay elements, including a terrifying new species: bats. These bloodthirsty creatures boast a talent for metallurgy, a disdain for weakness, and a strong conviction in the greater good.
Bats can use the ability Manorial Court to expel member of another species, leveraging this harsh punishment to motivate the rest of the workforce. They also gain resolve when other species leave the settlement. Two new biomes are also coming alongside Against the Storm – Nightwatchers: Rocky Ravine and Bamboo Flats.
Rocky Ravine is full of meals, stones, and merchants who won’t think twice about ripping you off. It even features a special Black Market mechanic that will be your lifeline as you try to figure out what prices and goods are fair, all hidden from the watchful eyes of the Scorched Queen.
While not nearly as bleak, Bamboo Flats is just as treacherous, thanks to the constant rain, which has left the region devoid of any fertile soil. The giant Fluff beak compensates for this by producing copious amounts of fertilizer to enrich the soil and help establish a flourishing settlement, so be sure to monitor its hunger, thirst, and warmth if you want good rewards.
The DLC will also add new orders, world events, rewards, and new music. The free 1.8 update will also drop alongside this Nightwatchers, adding a new Smoldering City upgrade, a new way to fulfill service needs, and a legendary cornerstone.
Currently, Against the Storm – Nightwatchers is only set for a PC release, but news regarding this DLC coming to the console version will come at a later date. The full game is currently available for $29.99.
