Today Gaijin announced via press release that the game will feature World War I aircraft as well, including the Red Baron’s Fokker Dr.I, the SPAD S.XIII, and many more.

The developer promises “authentically detailed cockpits, historically accurate weaponry, and realistic flight models.”

The experience provided by World War I aircraft, which is often ignored in this kind of simulator, is sure to be very different compared to WWII warbirds.

For one, they’re much slower, relying on maneuverability and tactics much more than raw speed or power. Their weapons are also exclusively mounted on the centerline, whether on the fuselage or above the wing, which is going to be quite awesome in VR.

You can see the aircraft in action in the trailer below.

If you’re unfamiliar with Aces of Thunder, it’s coming om 2025 for Steam and PS5 with PlayStation VR2.

Its developer, Gaijin Entertainment, is not new to flight games, being the creator of the popular War Thunder. You may also know them for Enlisted and more.

On top of the World War I aircraft, the simulator will also include over 20 WWII warbirds. Among them are the American P-51 Mustang and P-63 Kingcobra, the German Bf 109 and Fw 190, the Soviet Il-2 and Yak-9T, the British Spitfire, and the Japanese A6M3 Zero.

It’ll include both a multiplayer mode and single-player missions.
