Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 was released late last month, and esports has finally caught up, announcing the 2025 Call of Duty League (CDL) season for the latest title in the franchise.
The 2025 esports season will include four Majors between now and May. Each Major will include online qualifiers and a LAN tournament at the end. Additionally, two Minor Tournaments will be held during the first two Majors. The game modes for all of these tournaments will be Hardpoint, Search and Destroy, and Control.
Minor Tournaments award both money and CDL points, which are used for Post-Season seeding. First-place winners will get $20,000, and here’s what each placement will be worth:
- 1st place: 30 CDL points
- 2nd place: 20 CDL points
- 3rd place: 10 CDL points
The 2025 season will start with an Opening Weekend on December 6, 2024. This kicks off Major I (hosted by Toronto Ultra), which will last until February 2. From December 6 to January 26, online qualifiers will determine who faces off at the tournament in Madrid from January 30 to February 2. The Minor Tournament will be held from January 10 to 12 during this.
Major II (hosted by OpTic Texas) will start on February 14 and last until March 23, with online qualifiers from February 14 to March 16. The Minor Tournament during this major goes from February 27 to March 2. The Major LAN Tournament in Dallas will last from March 20 to 23.
Major III (hosted by Miami Heretics) will have online qualifiers from April 4 to 20, and the Major LAN Tournament will be April 24 to 27. Ft. Lauderdale will be the site of the third Major Tournament.
Major IV doesn’t have a host yet, and the Major LAN Tournament details haven’t been revealed. However, the online qualifiers will be from May 2 to May 18.
Players can check out the entire schedule on the CDL website with helpful streaming information, team dates, and filters.
Along with the CDL, Call of Duty Challengers will also be starting soon. The league is focused on rising stars and paving the path to pro CDL tournaments. The first Challengers Cup is being held on November 23 to 24. Elite is also starting soon, with NA and Europe qualifiers starting on January 4.
Bringing Black Ops 6 to the esports fray should prove to be entertaining, with the omnimovement and meatshield features. Considering the record-breaking release of the newest game in the franchise, the 2025 Call of Duty League season may be pretty popular.
