IO Interactive has announced that the release date for 007 First Light, the upcoming action-adventure game that goes into the roots of the infamous spy, has been delayed by two months.
According to a post on X, 007 First Light is “fully playable” now, from beginning to end. However, the extra two months gives the developers time to “polish” and “refine” the game to make sure it’s in its best state when it launches.
For IO Interactive, the independent developer and publisher, 007 First Light is the most ambitious project to date. The stealth action-adventure game includes various spycraft, spy gadgets, cars (and car chases), globe-trotting, and more.
If you haven’t heard of 007 First Light, it follows the story of James Bond in his young days, diving into the spy’s origin story. It starts with his time as a Naval air crewman who’s invited to join the Double 0 program.
This is a reimagined origin story for the spy, and players will spend most of the time doing missions for MI6. These missions will be replayable, and players will be able to add modifiers to make them harder or just change the conditions.
Players can watch the gameplay trailer for 007 First Light below — however, do keep in mind that the release date has been delayed, so it’s not accurate in the gameplay trailer from earlier this year:
007 First Light is set to release on May 27, 2026, on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2.
